‘Normal Army Not Guided by Criminal Laws’: Hrant Ter-Abrahamyan

The recent cases of questionable deaths in Armenia’s armed forces which have been a cause for concern was the reason behind the Facebook group, created by publicist Hrant Ter-Abrahamyan, “Seyran Ohanyan [Armenia’s Defense Minister] and [Chief of Police] Alik Sargsyan, Go Kill Yourselves,” which has around 300 members.

After the most recent questionable death of a young man serving in the Armenian army, Epress.am got in touch with Ter-Abrahamyan for comments.

“Essentially, not even two weeks passed after Seyran Ohanyan appeared on television, and again another death was recorded. Consequently, either that man’s word isn’t a basis for his subjects, or he himself isn’t particularly serious about what he says. Or it needs to be finally understood that the issue isn’t the individuals, but rather that the army and the criminal world are integrated, and there can’t be a normal army which is guided by criminal laws,” he said.

Speaking about further possible activity by the public, Ter-Abrahamyan said that the initiative is the only big score, “fight, fight till the end, and, ultimately, a change in the ruling authorities.”
