On the 19th anniversary of the declaration of Nagorno-Karabakh’s (NKR) independence, NKR Prime Minister Ara Harutyunyan greeted RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan and his delegation who had gone to Stepanakert, the NKR capital, yesterday morning at the airport. Tigran Sargsyan, NKR President Bako Sahakyan, and Ara Harutyunyan placed a wreath at the foot of the Stepanakert memorial monument dedicated to all those who perished for independence. Flowers were also placed at the grave of the first president of the NKR Supreme Council, Artur Mkrtchyan.

RA and NKR officials participated in the opening ceremonies of the “Khatutik” (Dandelion) monument, twice hero of the Soviet Union Nelson Stepanyan’s bust, and Stepanakert’s newly constructed No. 11 school named after V. Jhangiryan. The Armenian PM went around the school, became familiar with the conditions of study, and congratulated everyone in honor of NKR Independence Day and the start of a new academic year.

During the second half of the day, Sargsyan paid a visit to historic Tigranakert, went to the city museum, observed items uncovered in excavations, and wrote in the guest book. Afterwards, the Armenian PM left for the Khramort village of Askeran region’s machine and tractor station.

In the evening, the RA delegation members participated in the other festivities in Stepanakert. This morning, the delegation headed by Tigran Sargsyan returned to Yerevan.
