Kaidanow Welcomed Armenia’s Participation in Afghanistan Mission

On September 12, Armenia’s Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan welcomed Tina Kaidanow, Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs at the US State Department, according to a news release on the Defense Ministry’s official website.

Welcoming the guest, Ohanyan stated that military cooperation with the US is one of the important pillars of the Armenian defence policy. Both sides noted the importance of further development of cooperation between the two countries and discussed planned military cooperation activities. 

Kaidanow welcomed Armenian participation in international security stabilization operations, particularly in Afghanistan, and stressed the importance of further bilateral efforts in that regard.

The parties also discussed recent developments in the region, while strongly emphasizing that it is imperative that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict be solved peacefully, and underlined the preservation of the ceasefire regime on the contact line as an important factor for the effectiveness of negotiation efforts.
