Yerevan Sustainable Transportation Program to Cost $1 Billion

The government of Armenia during its session today approved a sustainable transportation development program in the city of Yerevan. These programs refer to the following routes: Arshakunyats Blvd. – Artashat causeway, Shirak Street – Argavand, Davtashen Bridge – Ashtarak causeway.

The compensation process of project areas included in the impact zone should begin no later than October 1, 2010. Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said that the estimated overall project cost is around $1 billion USD. Yerevan City Hall will also contribute with additional funds. This, like other programs in Yerevan, has national significance. Particularly, $300 million USD will be allocated toward the construction of modern roads circling the city in the next 7 years.
