Facebook Group ‘Against Illegal Police Actions’ Attemps to Unite Youth

On Sept. 24, Armenian National Congress (HAK) youth created a group in
Facebook and Odnoklassniki (“Classmates” in Russia; a social networking site
popular in Russia and other former Soviet Republics) called “Against Illegal
Police Actions.”

Speaking to Epress.am by phone, HAK activist Sargis Gevorgyan said this
initiative is the continuation of a statement made by HAK youth about a month
ago, in which it said (approximately), “Armenian National Congress youth, at
any moment, in any place, will intervene in illegal police actions.”

“Through the groups created in the two social networking sites, we will
attempt to unite those youth who are not afraid of voicing illegal actions by
the police. We call on all students and youth to actively join the group, so
that, with joint forces, we can fight against illegal actions, and, with joint
efforts, to realize our dream to live in a Free and Independent Armenia,” said
Gevorgyan, adding that people are already quickly joining the group.
