No Requests Made for Repatriating Ibrahimov’s Body: ICRC

The International Red Cross Committee (ICRC) Armenia branch is looking into the case of returning to Armenia the body of Manvel Saribekyan, a young Armenian man who was taken captive by Azerbaijani officers and died while in custody.

“We are currently in confidential talks with the [Armenian] authorities on the matter of repatriating the body,” said an ICRC Armenia representative to Epress.am today.

ICRC Armenia did not provide details on the talks, noting only that until Manvel Saribekyan’s death, the organization held confidential talks with officials regarding the issue of Saribekyan, as well as other prisoners.

Asked by Epress.am whether ICRC Armenia is working on the matter of repatriating Azerbaijani soldier Mubariz Ibrahimov, the spokesperson said:

“ICRC Armenia has been informed by the Armenian government about the bodies of the Azerbaijani soldiers; however, they have not appealed to us regarding any other issue.”
