Armenia’s Ombudsman Condemns This Act of Vandalism

Human Rights Defender Armen Harutyunyan has condemned the acts of vandalism that resulted in the desecration of a memorial in Yerevan dedicated to the memory of Holocaust victims.

In a statement on the Ombudsman’s official website, Harutyunyan calls on law enforcement bodies to find and hold accountable those individuals who desecrated the monument.

As reported earlier, a red swastika was spray-painted on the memorial, along with the words (in Armenian) “Death to Jews.” As told to Epress.am by a city employee who was busy cleaning the paint this morning, the act seems to have occurred last night. The swastika and anti-semitic words have since been removed.
