Ter-Petrossian Raised Nikol Pashinyan Issue with US Ambassador

Leader of the opposition bloc Armenian National Congress (HAK), first president of the Republic of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrossian today met with US Ambassador to Armenia Marie L. Yovanovitch, US State Department Coordinator for US Assistance to Europe and Eurasia Daniel N. Rosenblum,  Deputy Director of the US State Department Office on Caucasus Affairs and Regional Conflicts John Espinoza, and US Embassy Political/Economic Officer Charles Lobdell. 

Discussed during the meeting were issues related to Armenia’s domestic political and socioeconomic situation, corruption, and the electoral system, according to a press release issued by the Armenian National Congress. Ter-Petrossian also raised the issue of political prisoners and their immediate release, as well as ceasing attacks, such as was recently reported,  on imprisoned journalist and opposition leader Nikol Pashinyan, currently in Armenia’s Kosh penitentiary. 

Also participating in the meeting were HAK head office representatives Levon Zurabyan, Davit Shahnazaryan and Avetis Avagyan.
