Georgian Human Rights Defender Calls on Support for Georgy Vanyan

On the occasion of the International Day for Tolerance, the human rights defender’s office in Georgia awarded those members of the public for whom “laws are primary and who display a tolerant attitude toward the surrounding world.”

The Ethnic and Religious Councils at the office have selected as man of the year human rights defender Emil Adelkhanov, who urged the protection of his Armenian colleagues.

“An Azerbaijani film festival was to take place in Yerevan, the organizer of which is human rights defender Georgy Vanyan. So-called Armenian patriots thwarted the festival, and now have subject Vanyan and his colleagues to harsh criticism. Maybe we can help them in some way,” he said, reports Azatutyun Radio.
