The Government of Armenia approved a decision today that beginning from January 2011, the winning receipts from the monthly lottery of receipts from point-of-sale (POS) machines to be those that have two or more consecutive digits (beginning from either the left or the right) which correspond to the winning lottery numbers.

The government decision also stipulates that 10 cars can be won during each monthly draw: individual cars and a prize of 1 million drams will be awarded to bearers of those receipts that have 8 consecutive digits that match the winning number and a prize of a car plus 100,000 drams to the bearer of the receipt that matches 7 consecutive winning digits. The remaining cars will be raffled off to those with 5 or 6 matching consecutive digits. Preference will be given to those with the largest sum of the transaction noted on the receipt.

Bearers of receipts with matching 6, 5, 4, 3, and 2 digits will receive 50,000 drams, 20,000 drams, 5,000 drams, 2,000 drams and 500 drams respectively.

According to today’s decision, no longer will bonuses be paid to those who present collections of losing receipts to the tax office. Instead, the January 2011 lottery will include draws for POS receipts issued in Oct., Nov. and Dec. 2010.  Thus, the Jan. 2011 lottery draw will be for 30 cars.
