Turkey Would Like to See Gul as UN Secretary General

Turkish President Abdullah Gul might campaign for the position of UN Secretary General, reports Turkiye.

The author of the Turkiye article notes that current UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon’s term is up in 2011, and the UN no longer wants to see him in the position.

In the Turkish publication’s opinion, Gul, who has good relations with US President Barack Obama, might run for the position. Furthermore, Russia and China will support Gul, and the first Muslim Secretary General of the UN will become an example of tolerance to the world.
