$2 mln for Robert Kocharyan? NA Chairman Denies Allegations

Armenian National Assembly Chairman Hovik Abrahamyan took 2 mln dollars in the name of Robert Kocharyan from current RA Minister of Transport and Communication Manuk Vardanyan. This announcement was made yesterday by Grisha Virabyan who had been granted political asylum in Belgium in his interview to “Haykakan Zhamanak” (Armenian Times) daily.

Several months ago Virabyan told “Haykakan Zhamanak” daily that the National Assembly chairman took 2 mln dollars from one of the Armenian ruling government members in the name of Robert Kocharyan, but he didn’t mention any name. After Serzh Sargsyan’s recent speech Virabyan made public the name of the person, noting that if Serzh Sargsyan was so sincere and was really going to struggle corruption, he had to begin from particular people.

Yesterday Hovik Abrahamyan said to “Haykakan Zhamanak” daily:  “Viranyan’s statement is a pure lie, I will bring a charge against him”.

Then Head of RA State Committee of Immovable Property Cadastre Manuk Vardanyan also said that “it is nonsense, I don’t believe it”.

“If I had so much money, I would take a rest, why should I work?,” said Vardanyan.

“Haykakan Zhamanak” daily reported that Virabyan was ready to take any responsibility for his statement in court.
