Opposition Activist Compares Armenian Police Officers to Cartoon Characters

We’ve already created a working group which is engaged in the vendors’ issue, in order to become more familiar with their issues, to propose solutions and soon there will be a corresponding statement, said Armenian National Congress (HAK) coordinator Levon Zurabyan at a press conference in Yerevan today.

According to him, vendors are being intimated, threatened and told not to politicize the issue, but in that case, people can become serfs.

“Everyone must understand that the only way is to politicize the issue, yes, all must gather and politicize it because this is the only way to fight the oligarchs. They must understand that groups alone won’t get anymore, you must gather and politicize the issue. This is our call,” he said.

The opposition activist considered it “absurd” that police officers were engaged in talks with protestors during their demonstrations, urging them to make this or that political choice.

“Today peddlers have become politicians, which is absurd and  like the dictatorship in the cartoon Chipolino,” he said.
