Speaking to One Another: New Yerevan Exhibit Features Memories of Armenia, Turkey Residents

A new exhibit at the Armenian Artists’ Union called Speaking to One Another: Personal Memories of the Past in Armenia and Turkey showcases “the memories of ordinary people in Armenia and Turkey about their intertwined past using their own words,” according to a Facebook event page.

The exhibit, which opens today at 3 pm, launched in Istanbul, then travelled to Diyarbaki and Antioch in Turkey. The exhibit had its Armenia premier in Gyumri before moving on to Vanadzor and Idjevan.

The exhibit features stories of residents of the neighboring countries using text, audio and video.

Implemented by the German-based Institute for International Cooperation of the German Adult Education Association (DVV), in collaboration with the Armenian Actors’ Union, Armenian Centre for Ethnographic Studies “Hazarashen” and Anadolu Kültür in Turkey, the exhibit can be viewed daily from 10 am to 6 pm till Feb. 3 at the Armenian Artists’ Union near Moscow Cinema on Abovyan St., Yerevan.
