HAK Youth Say Police ‘Violently’ Snatched their Leaflets: Unconfirmed Reports

According to unconfirmed reports by Armenian National Congress (HAK) activist Aramayis Avetisyan, while HAK youth were distributing pamphlets earlier today, they were approached by plainclothes police officers who snatched the pamphlets from their hands. The youth were campaigning in the area around Erebuni hospital in Yerevan.

“We were distributing leaflets, when suddenly three people without identifying themselves asked us what we were doing and snatched the leaflets from our hands. We have leaflets also in our pockets and they violently removed and took those too,” said Aramayis.

“At first we thought it was just those three, but then we saw 20 people also joined them,” he added.

Note, the leaflets were informing residents of the opposition group’s rally to be held tomorrow, Feb. 18 at 5 pm outside the Matenadaran (Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts).
