Mubariz Ibrahimov Tanker to Carry Crude Oil to Turkey

The first tanker of Armada type built by Besiktas Shipyard in Yalova, Turkey, named in honor of Mubariz Ibrahimov, has sailed from the shipyard on Feb. 17, 2011, reports the Maritime Information Centre, citing Palmali Group of Companies.

Ibrahimov was an Azerbaijani Warrant Officer shot down along the Karabakh border in June 2010 after he shot 4 Armenian soldiers and wounded an additional four. He was posthumously awarded the title of National Hero of Azerbaijan by the country’s president, Ilham Aliyev.

The vessel, designed to carry crude oil and petroleum products, has sailed for her maiden voyage to load 6,000 mts of straight run gasoline at the Russian port of Kavkaz with destination to one safe port of the Mediterranean Sea (in Turkey).
