400,000 Euros to be Spent on Armenian-Populated Javakheti

A meeting was held in the Georgian town of Akhaltsikhe with the aim of establishing a national park in the mainly Armenian-populated Georgian region of Samtskhe-Javakheti. Participating in the meeting were Agency of Protected Areas Chair Georgi Shovnadze, Javakheti governor Lasha Chkadua, environmental Global Fund Director Nikolaz Malazonia and other officials, reports Georgia Online.

“Together with local governments, we discussed the establishment of a national park in Javakheti, as well as implementing social projects. These are small grants, which, however, will be used to improve the social condition of people living around the national park,” said Shovnadze.

Funding in the amount of 400,000 euros has been allocated for this project.
