Armenia’s Delegation Wasn’t Allowed to Direct Questions to Turkish PM at PACE, Says Postanjyan

During the Apr. 11–15 PACE  (Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe) spring session, Armenian delegate members were not given the opportunity to direct questions to Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, said Heritage Party MP and member of Armenia’s delegation to PACE Zaruhi Postanjyan, speaking to journalists in Yerevan today.

According to Postanjyan, the Armenian delegate had registered for the question and answer period ahead of time; however, PACE President Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, making use of his official position, instructed the Secretariat to change the sequence on the agenda, as a result of which they were deprived of the opportunity to ask questions.

“And that was done intentionally, of course. It pains me greatly now that other members of our delegation were also subject to that discrimination. But earlier, in the fall of 2009, when I had initiated a document against Çavuşoğlu, that such a representative of the Republic of Turkey cannot be allowed to head the PACE, none of our delegation members supported this document and today they bear the consequences of the actions of Çavuşoğlu, a representative of the Republic of Turkey,” she said.
