Khachatryan’s ‘Return of the Poet’ Wins Best Film at Kish Festival

Local filmmaker Harutyun Khachatryan’s film “Return of the Poet” was recognized as the Best Film in the first Kish International Film Festival, which was held Apr. 24–28 and organized by the Centre for Free and Special Economic Zones and Iran’s Bureau of Film and Audiovisual Affairs, Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance.

Apart from the film director, cinematographer Vrej Petrosyan, cineaste, film critic David Muradyan, and Union of Armenian Cinematographers President Ruben Gevorgyants were also invited to Iran. Since Khachatryan returned to Armenia before the awards were distributed, Gevorgyants accepted the award on his behalf.

At least 33 territories were invited to submit the best films from the last 5 years, including Harutyun Khachatryan’s Border and Return of the Poet — the first, in the feature film category, and the second, in the documentary film category, according to a release issued by the Golden Apricot Yerevan International Film Festival, of which Khachatryan is the General Director.
