Kocharian and Ter-Petrossian Might be Interrogated in March 1 Investigation

The head of Armenia’s Special Investigative Service (SIS) Andranik Mirzoyan did not rule out interrogating the first and second presidents of Armenia, Levon Ter-Petrossian and Robert Kocharian respectively, in the investigation surrounding the post-election violence on March 1–2, 2008, which left 10 people dead and many more wounded.

The expediency will be discussed and identified he said during the briefing after the release of the annual state budget report in the National Assembly.

He also said the SIS will work more intensely on the March 1 investigation next week. Witnesses previously examined and not who, according to Mirzoyan, might have new evidence spoke to the SIS this week.

The head of the SIS also stated that the investigative group working on the case has been enlarged and currently includes 15 investigators. The material of the Fact-Finding Group on March 1 will also be used. The evidence obtained by the fact-finding group will be added to the evidence obtained by the SIS.

“Now there is a possibility to review the entire case from a different perspective: what actions were taken; new circumstances may be investigated. We will see if there is the possibility for new examinations, interrogation of new witnesses, representatives of the injured parties, additional interrogation. Foreign experts may be involved in the investigation to the case,” he said, reports Lragir.am.
