Yet Another False Bomb Alert in Yerevan. Earlier Culprit Found, Arrested

The crisis management center at the Armenian Ministry of Emergency Situations received a call at 1:13 pm today that there is a bomb in the VivaCell-MTS office at Arishti 4/1.

Ministry officials, police and national security staff arrived on scene and concluded the search at 2:30 pm. No bomb was found. During the search, all VivaCell-MTS employees were removed from the premises, but they have currently returned and the office is functioning as normal.

Recall, on Thursday, a false bomb alert was called in at Zvartnots International Airport in Yerevan. And, on May 22, a call was received about a bomb on a Yerevan–Amsterdam flight; however, again, no bomb was found.

Armenia’s National Security Service issued a statement earlier today in which they stated that on May 23, they found and arrested the individual who called in the first fake bomb alert. He is 43-year-old Yerevan resident Hayk Vardanyan, previously convicted three times on various charges.
