Levon Ter-Petrossian will Respond to Serzh Sargsyan at Jun. 30 Opposition Rally

Armenian National Congress (HAK) leader Levon Ter-Petrossian will give a response to Serzh Sargsyan’s administration at the HAK Jun. 30 rally, said Armenian National Congress (HAK) senior representative Levon Zurabyan at a press conference in Yerevan today.

Until then, he said, the Armenian National Congress has a few things they’d like to convey to the authorities.

“Stop the information blockade when it comes to the [Armenian National] Congress; that is, informational videos on the rally have been sent to all TV companies, but it’s obvious that no television company is airing them. The [Armenian National] Congress is not given the regular opportunity to present our views on air. We urge to stop the transportation blockade, but we’re not limited by making calls. We are going to organize a legal counteraction on that. We are also going to carry out monitoring, to determine which transport company is working how, and according to that, we will appeal to deprive the corresponding transport companies of their license.

“To stop the spread of false information by the police and National Security Service regarding this dialogue. They are spreading false information, stupid information that supposedly Ter-Petrossian has agreed to become chair of the National Assembly, supposedly they have promised us 20 seats [in parliament], that all this is a game, supposedly there are agreements with the [Armenian National] Congress. We call on the leaders of both structures [the police and the NSS] to recall that they are apolitical structures and they have clear powers as defined by the Constitution. We urge to move from partial steps to the full format of dialogue. They have to realize that dialogue that’s an end in itself in the name of dialogue won’t be. It must be understood that this entire process, if it won’t lead to tangible results, cannot last long.

“The people won’t tolerate any practice of delay and buying time. And finally, the only outcome can be systemic changes, which will allow the formation of legitimate authorities through pre-term elections in Armenia,” he said.
