117 Died from Automobile Accidents in Armenia in First Half of 2011

There were 904 recorded automobile accidents in Armenia between Jan. 1 and Jul. 1, 2011, which resulted in the death of 117 people with 1,316 people receiving various levels of injuries.

During the same period in 2010, there were 816 accidents, which resulted in 117 deaths and 1,106 injured.

In the first half of 2011, there were 429 road accidents in the Armenian capital, which resulted in the death of 37 people with 589 people receiving various levels of injuries. During the same period in 2010, there were 360 accidents in Yerevan, which resulted in 28 deaths and 244 injured.

From the accidents in the first half of 2011, 307 were incidents of vehicles running over pedestrians, which resulted in the death of 39 people with 313 people injured; 363 were due to speeding (74 deaths, 564 injured); 341 were collisions (33 deaths, 604 injured). (Note, there is some cross overs.)

There were also 128 incidents of vehicles turning over, which resulted in 36 deaths and 221 injured.
