Silent Dialogue: Opposition and Government Delegations Agree Not to Speak to the Press

The 5th phase of the dialogue between delegations of the ruling coalition and the opposition Armenian National Congress (HAK), which lasted 2 hours, took place on Tuesday.

After the meeting, the parties issued a joint statement, which was presented to reporters by senior HAK representative Levon Zurabyan.

“We discussed the Aug. 9 incident that took place between Armenian National Congress activists and police officers. We reached an agreement to continue the discussion on Friday. This is a preliminary agreement; we have also agreed to refrain from commenting on the details of the discussion of the incident. We have also agreed not to respond to any questions.”

Reporters, nevertheless, directed questions to members of the two delegations; however, no one responded, pointing to the agreement reached between the parties.

Note, speaking to reporters on Monday, HAK press spokesperson Arman Musinyan had said the HAK activists’ arrest is a huge obstacle in the dialogue between the two camps which has already begun.

“There is still 24 hours and depending on what the boys’ status will be, until tomorrow, at the start of the dialogue’s next round, we will make a corresponding decision,” he had said.
