For 4 Years, Armenia Prosecutor General has been Receiving Only Part of his Salary

Since 2008, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia Aghvan Hovsepyan has not been receiving his salary in full, said press secretary for the Prosecutor General’s Office Sona Truzyan, reports local daily Haykakan Jamanak (“Armenian Times”).

Truzyan’s clarification was in response to an article published in the paper’s previous issue in which it was noted that Hovsepyan receives a monthly salary of 1 million 176 thousand drams ($3,194 USD). The press secretary noted in writing that the Prosecutor General, in fact, receives 784 thousand drams ($2,129 USD) per month. The Haykakan Jamanak reporter found out, however, that Hovsepyan has to receive a premium of 392 thousand drams ($1,065 USD), in addition to other income as part of a base salary and for seniority.

In response to this news, Truzyan said, “From 2008 till now, the necessary funding has not been allocated through the state budget of the Republic of Armenia.”

The local daily notes that in the same situation are the rest of the prosecutors, who for 4 years have been receiving only part of their salaries.
