Two Buildings to be Demolished to Build Free Economic Zone in Airport

The Government of Armenia today amended its earlier decision to provide land property with the right of free use to Armenia International Airports CJSC by increasing the total area by 0.3 hectares.

According to Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, with this decision, a new program takes flight.

“Two residential buildings have to be removed from there in order to build a free economic zone in the airport [i.e. Zvartnots International Airport in Yerevan]. We are providing the concessionaire with a new area; he will construct buildings there where the residents will be moved, while a free economic zone will be developed in the area previously occupied by the two buildings. That is the purpose of this decision,” he said.
