Platini’s Translator in Ukraine was Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s Sister

UEFA President Michel Platini received a progress report on Ukraine’s preparations for UEFA EURO 2012 after visiting all four of the country’s host cities during a two-day whistle-stop tour.

After his visit to Donetsk, all heard him utter the Russian word for thank you — spasibo. The UEFA official declared that Ukraine is ready to host Euro 2012.

Ukrainian news source Segodnya (“Today”) reported that Platini’s translator at the press briefing was the sister of Armenian football player, Ukrainian Premier League club Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Monica, who works at UEFA headquarters.
