Problem of Toilets in Liberty Square Reminded Opposition Leader of his Friendship with Serzh Sargsyan

Yesterday someone asked me, when are they going to open the toilets, said Armenian National Congress (HAK) leader Levon Ter-Petrossian, speaking on Tuesday to supporters gathered at Liberty Square and referring to the public toilets around the square which were closed the day after the opposition declared nonstop rallies in Yerevan on Sept. 30.

“We raised this issue on the first day: we appealed to the police, to city hall. They said, we’ll resolve it. Till today they are resolving it. I am sure that the major roads entering Yerevan are blocked on the orders of [Armenian President] Serzh Sargsyan.

“Go ahead and criticize me, but I don’t believe that the toilets are closed on Serzh Sargsyan’s orders. I say this as Sargsyan’s old friend. Serzh, I beg you, open the toilets. It’s been 10 years since I’ve had a private meeting with him, but now I say: Serzh, prove to these people that you can solve at least one problem. Otherwise, it’s embarrassing — we’re  being disgraced in front of the whole world,” he said.
