317 Russian Soldiers Can’t Leave Armenia

The military prosecutor’s office of Russia’s South Federal District has demanded that the Russian defense ministry immediately send home discharged conscripts from the 102nd Russian military base in Gyumri, Armenia.

“Currently the military prosecutor’s office, together with representatives of the Committee of Soldier’s Mothers, is verifying the application of the law on discharge and military service of 317 soldiers of the Russian defense ministry’s 102nd military base,” Natif Gadzhimetov of the South Federal District Military Prosecutor’s office told Interfax-Yug agency on Tuesday.

He noted that it’s been more than a week since the discharged soldiers and sergeants can’t leave the base and go home because of a lack of transport. Currently, South Federal District Prosecutor Vladimir Milovanov has commanded that the retired military personnel be sent home immediately.
