Etchmiadzin City Employee Arrested for Drug Possession

Police have arrested Etchmiadzin City Hall employee Norik Mirzakhanyan, who had 7 grams of narcotics in his possession.

According to local daily Hraparak, Mirzakhanyan was known in Etchmiadzin by the nickname “Kartol” (“potato”) and is considered to be part of the inner circle of former deputy defense minister, Karabakh War veteran Lieutenant General Manvel Grigoryan, who yields unofficial power in the city.

Mirzakhanyan is the head of communal services at the municipality. Etchmiadzin mayor is Karen Grigoryan — Manvel Grigoryan’s son.
