Armenia Prime Minister, Writers’ Union President to Discuss Issue of Hovhannes Tumanyan’s Apartment

Current owner Archil Lezhava of Armenian poet, writer Hovhannes Tumanyan’s apartment at 18 Davitashvili in Tbilisi, Georgia, is willing to part with the apartment if he is given a comparable apartment on the same street, Writers’ Union of Armenia President Levon Ananyan told Epress.am earlier today.

Note, the sale of Tumanyan’s apartment has gotten much coverage in the press. Recent media reports indicated that both the Republican Party of Armenia and the Prosperous Armenia party wish to buy the apartment.

In connection with this issue, Ananyan was in Tbilisi for the past few days and attempted to settle the matter with the current owner.

“There are a few options to acquiring the apartment. I’ll likely meet with [Armenia’s] prime minister today and describe the situation. They are they ones to make a decision. I don’t have that much money to buy the apartment,” he said.
