Human Rights Organizations’ Reports are Incomplete: Armenia Parliamentary Vice Chair

The opinion of reputable organizations is important to the Armenian authorities, but it’s not always that such opinions are objective, said Republican Party of Armenia spokesperson, National Assembly vice-chair Eduard Sharmazanov, speaking to journalists in the Armenian capital today and commenting on recent reports by the Human Rights Watch and Freedom House, which place Armenia in the partly free category and state that the government is not doing enough to protect human rights in the country.

“In my opinion, the Human Rights Watch, and why not, the Freedom House reports are incomplete. We have made active legislative amendments. We shouldn’t search for the reasons why these reports aren’t objective; we should simply continue on the path to democracy,” he said.
