Dashnak MP Vahan Hovhannisyan Appeals to Yerevan Mayor

The construction and urban development work being carried out by the municipality in Mashots Park in Yerevan has caused serious concern, as well as a wave of protest by several environmental and non-governmental organizations, begins a letter by head of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun, or ARF-D) parliamentary faction Vahan Hovhannisyan to Yerevan mayor Taron Margaryan.

Considering the fact that the work is being carried out in public green space established by the city’s General Plan, considering that it assumes a change in environment, as well as based on the fact that the work affects the interests of Yerevan residents and the capital, and environmental and cultural issues, being guided by the RA Law on Urban Development Articles 12, 13 and 14, we ask that you call a public discussion as quickly as possible to inform [the public] of the mayor’s plan with regards to this area, as well as to hear the views of interested individuals and organizations,” reads the letter as published by Yerkir Media.
