MP Suggests Turkey’s Eurovision Contestant Sing in Armenian or Kurdish

Turkish MP of Kurdish origin Sirri Sakik, representing the BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) and elected from the city of Muş, has suggested Turkey’s contestant in the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest in Baku sing in Armenia or Kurdish.

Emphasizing that in recent years, Turkey was represented by artists singing in English, he said if not this year than next year, English might well be replaced by Kurdish or Armenian as the language the songs are song in, reports Regnum news agency, citing Haberler.

In his opinion, if Turkey’s contestant in Eurovision sung, for example, in Kurdish, it would be a powerful message to the world.

Note, representing Turkey in Eurovision Song Contest in Baku this year is jazz singer of Jewish origin Can Bonomo (pictured) with his English-language song “Love Me Back”.
