OSCE Monitoring of Karabakh Frontline Stopped Because of Shooting

According to a statement issued by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the unrecognized Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh, an OSCE mission to monitor the line of contact on Oct. 17 was terminated because of shots fired from Azerbaijan. The statement reads:

“A planned monitoring of the Line of Contact between the armed forces of Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan to be conducted by the OSCE Mission in the Hadrut direction, scheduled for October 17, was stopped because of the submachine gun shots from the Azerbaijani side towards the positions of the NKR Defense Army.

“The shots were fixed by the monitoring group members of both sides.

“Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Ambassador Andrzej Kasprzyk, who led the monitoring group from the opposite side, for security considerations decided to stop the monitoring.”
