Czech-Armenians Protest During Armenian President’s Visit

A group of Armenians living in Prague holding signs saying "We are against the Customs Union" and "Put an end to the oligarchy" yesterday protested outside Prague Castle, the official residence of the President of the Czech Republic, reported RFE/RL's Armenian service (Azatutyun) [AM] on Thursday.

Recall, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan is currently in the Czech Republic on an official visit.

Czech-Armenians participating in the demonstration said they gathered to protest the problems facing Armenia: emigration, unemployment, shelling at the border, and so on.  They also expressed concern over the Armenian president's decision to join the Russian-led Customs Union. They believe that he shouldn't have made such a decision without asking the people of Armenia.
