Parliamentary Ethics Commission On Standby: Appeals Against Ruling Party MPs Not Discussed

The National Assembly's ad-hoc Ethics Commission has not yet formed, the Ethics Commission's deputy chair, Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs chair and ruling Republican Party of Armenia member Davit Harutyunyan yesterday informed local daily Haykakan Zhamanak.

The Commission's last meeting was held on Sept. 24, 2013. Thereafter, multiple applications were submitted to the Commission, including those against Republican Party of Armenia MPs Manvel Badeyan and Arakel Movsisyan.

Asked what happened to those applications and why the Commission isn't meeting, Harutyunyan said: "The Commission has not yet formed; when it does, we'll see." As for when this will happen, Harutyunyan said, "I don't know."

The newspaper claims the Commission hasn't yet formed because the Armenian National Congress has withdrawn its representative, who was supposed to chair the Commission during this parliamentary session.
