Armenian Parliament to Collect Signatures to Establish Commission to Study March 1 Tragedy

On Feb. 24, during the regular four-day parliamentary session, the four non-ruling parties will organize a petition, with the aim of initiating a special discussion on creating an ad-hoc commission to investigate the events of March 1, 2008. As reported by local news provider ilur.am [AM], this news was conveyed by head of the Armenian National Congress faction Levon Zurabyan.

"The ruling authorities' use of force against demonstrators that took place on Mar. 1, 2008, is a crime; it must be solved, and the guilty, punished. Until our Mar. 1 rally we want to again prove to the Armenian people and the international community that we are determined to solve the crimes of March 1," said Zurabyan.
