Armenian Citizens Required to Contribute to Mandatory Pension Fund Until Sept. 30

The Republic of Armenia Law on Funded Pension "will be in full force" until Sept. 30, said Constitutional Court President Gagik Harutyunyan on state television.

He repeated Republican Party of Armenia MP Davit Harutyunyan's earlier statement that Article 68 Section 15 of the RA Law on the Constitutional Court stipulates that a law continues to be in force, since the Court postponed until Sept. 30 adoption of its ruling whereby it recognized certain provisions of the law (including the mandatory component) as unconstitutional.

According to the MP, therefore, the obligations prescribed by the law must be fulfilled.

At the same time, the Constitutional Court president said that after Sept. 30, the mandatory pension system will cease to exist.

Harutyunayn associated the misinterpretations of the Court ruling with the inadequate level of legal awareness in society.
