Azerbaijani Soldiers Killed by Mine Explosion. Karabakh Authorities Claim Sabotage Attempt

That which the Ministry of Defense Industry of Azerbaijan considered an accident on the front line, the de facto Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh (NKR) deems a failed sabotage attempt.

According to an official statement issued by the Nagorno-Karabakh authorities, at around 10:30 pm on April 7, the opponent initiated a "subversive intelligence operation" in the southeastern (Marjanli) direction of the Line of Contact between Karabakh and Azerbaijani troops.

"The [NKR] Defense Army position units identified in a timely manner the advancement of Azerbaijani fighters, resorting to retaliatory action and throwing them back to their starting positions. On the path to retreating, [the group] struck a mine, and the opponent lost three men (one of which was an officer) and wounded six. While resisting Azerbaijani fighters, the Karabakh side did not suffer any losses," reads the official statement.

Earlier today, the Ministry of Defense Industry of Azerbaijan reported that three servicemen of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces — Captain Orujaliyev Jeyhun Jalil, soldier Karimov Seyfaddin Navai, and soldier Abdullayev Novruz Gurban — died and six were wounded from a mine explosion. The injured were taken to a military hospital in Ahmedbeyli in Fuzuli. One of the men who was seriously wounded, Talibov Emin Talib, was picked up by a helicopter and rushed to a hospital in Baku. No other details were provided in the official statement by Azerbaijan's defense ministry.
