PM Not Ready to Relinquish Supervisory Bodies to the Opposition

RA Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan said in parliament today that he never promised that he is ready to see opposition candidates in supervisory bodies. This statement angered Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun, or ARF-D) MP Artsvik Minasyan (pictured) who said that, basically, the government is refusing ARF-D's proposal.

The MP asked, in this case, how does the prime minister see cooperation with the opposition? According to Minasyan, his party was proposing not opposition leaders in supervisory bodies, but the right to put forth candidates in these government bodies.

"It's not as if we like to govern, to adopt a winner's position. When has it happened that we've won? We [i.e. the ruling Republican Party of Armenia] have the majority [but] we don't want to cooperate," said Abrahamyan.

The issue can be discussed, Abrahamyan added.
