Reduced Bread Consumption Due to Population Decline in Armenia: Newspaper

According to the National Statistical Service of the Republic of Armenia, 98.1 tons of bread were produced in Armenia in the first four months of this year, which is 0.3% less than the same period last year, reports local daily Haykakan Zhamanak.

The newspaper finds this noteworthy in that there is no oversupply of bread, and the volumes of production and consumption are the same.

"This means that the consumption of bread in Armenia has decreased. Since the consumption of bread per capita remains almost unchanged, thus it can be concluded that the decline in bread consumption is due to a decline in the population," reports the newspaper.
