Appeals Court Sustains Lower Court Ruling in “Harsnaqar Case”

The RA Court of Appeal today left unchanged a lower court's ruling to sentence all six of the accused in the "Harsnaqar case" to 12 years in prison.

As reported by News.am [AM], after hearing the verdict, Garik Margaryan's mother, Nune Margaryan, fell ill, and Arman Baghdasaryan's wife, Astghik Manukyan, fainted and was given first aid.

Recall, on June 17, 2012, a group of military doctors were subject to a beating at the Harsnaqar restaurant complex belonging to President of the Football Federation of Armenia, then MP Ruben Hayrapetyan. One of the doctors, Vahe Avetyan, 32, died 12 days later in the hospital. According to documents presented in court, the defendants — Garik Margaryan, Arman Khachatryan, Arman Baghdasaryan, Norayr Hayrapetyan, Artur Babloyan, and Davit Adamyan — worked at the restaurant.
All the defendants' family members were crying and shouting.

On March 24, 2014, Court of First Instance of Avan and Nor Nork Communities of Yerevan Judge Davit Harutyunyan sentenced the accused to 12 years in prison.
