Georgia’s Agreement with Armenia on Exchanging Classified Information “Foolish”: Former Defense Minister

The agreement on exchanging classified information signed between Georgia and Armenia is a "foolish contract," said Georgia's former Minister of Defense (and later Minister of Internal Affairs) Bacho Akhalaia (pictured) in an interview with Georgia's Front News.

“The agreement on the exchange of classified information with Armenia, to put it mildly, is nonsense, given that Armenia signed a similar contract with Russia. Perhaps you can guess why this document does not suit us. We do not need any such exchange of classified information with Armenia, although it is possible to a certain extent and within the scope of good-neighborly and friendly relations. Collegial and personal relations with Armenia — that is what we need in the security sector, and not an [exchange of classified information] agreement," he said.
