Parliament of Armenia Passes Debated Border Village Law

Yesterday, the National Assembly voted yes on a law giving tax exemptions to entrepreneurs from border villages. 85 MPs voted 'yes' to the law, 1 'abstained' and 5 'against'.

Heated discussions resulted around the bill in the past few days in the National Assembly.  Particularly, on Wednesday between Armenian National Congress faction MP Nikol Pashinyan and Republican Party MP Vardan Ayvazyan. According to Pashinyan, the bill is not helpful to residents in the border villages, and the main reason behind the bill is for the ruling authorities to establish their businesses in a tax-free zone.
