Epress.am Journalist Summoned to SIS Due to Calling a Sit-In Protester

Today, Epress.am journalist Lusine Khachatryan was invited to the Special Investigatory Service (SIS). The SIS representative clarified that our journalist had called Emma Sahakyan from her personal cellphone, and that the SIS wished to clarify the reason for her call.

The journalist noted that she would only visit the SIS if they present a summons. A bit later, the SIS called again, asking her to come to their office and pick up her summons, so it “can be done quickly.” Lusine Khachatryan refused to come and she asked them to, nevertheless, send her the summons.

In June 2012, Emma Sahakyan carried out a sit-in across the street from the Presidential Palace. Epress.am had often covered Sahakyan’s story and interviewed her. This August, the SIS initiated a case of Emma Sahakyan’s protest, who had sent a letter to the Attorney General, demanding that they punish the police who forcibly uprooted her from her sit-in on Baghramyan Ave. on December 2, 2013.

Recall, that last week Epress.am journalists Yuri Manvelyan and Tigran Khachatryan were also summoned to the SIS, pertaining to the case of A1+ journalist Marine Khachatryan’s attack
