Talks of Increasing Transport Fares Resurface: Zhoghovurd

The Yerevan Municipality has restarted talks of increasing transportation prices, writes Zhoghovurd daily. This time it is connected to the depreciation of dram, resulting in gas stations increasing the price of 1 cubic meter of gas from 10-15%. The Yerevan Municipality Transportation Department Head Henrik Navasardyan told Zhoghovurd that route owners have already begun addressing the price increases.

“Yesterday they were concerned and addressed the issue to us about what they would do if the drivers suddenly boycotted and stopped working. We responded and told them to convince the drivers to come to work no matter what,” said Navasardyan.

The daily notes that the route owners always only think about increasing the transport fares, but they never think about the drivers or consider compensating the gas increases by lowering the so-called ‘daily disbursements’ from drivers to their bosses.
