Armenian Headmaster Convicted of Defalcation Reappointed School Head

Susanna Sargsyan, former headmaster of Yerevan School № 27 who was accused of misappropriation of budgetary funds of the school two years ago, has been reappointed the school head, Anahit Bakshyan, member of the"Barev, Yerevan" faction of Yerevan Council of Elders, informed on Wednesday, August 26. 

Note, in 2013 Sargsyan was convicted of defalcation and causing major damage of more than AMD 2 million to the state. According to the indictment, in the period between 2009 and 2012, the then headmaster made false registrations, signed employment agreements with 4 people who did not attend work, and pocketed their assigned salaries.

“8 members of the management board unanimously reinstated corruption in the school in the face of former convicted head Susanna Sargsyan accused of causing major damage to the state. The members of the management board of the school, as well as the current president confirmed their will to remain faithful to corruption,” Bakhsyan said in a statement, adding that the authorities' speeches against “this shameful phenomenon which destroys the state and the society” are worthless.
