Dead Armenian Soldier Had Been Drafted Despite Serious Health Issues: Press

Hraparak newspaper writes that 19-year-old Nagorno Karabakh defense army conscript Suren Mosinyan who died unexpectedly on May 29 in a Hadrut military unit had been called to service despite suffering from serious health problems.

“He had been told in the military commissariat that he was too thin, that he weighed too little to be able to serve. Additionally, they had said that Suren also had a spine problem and that he would most probably not be drafted as he was not fit for service. But later on they decided to send him anyway; in someone else's place, most probably,” the soldier's mother, Mrs Anzhela, told the paper.

According to Hraparak, the Mosinyans live in dire social and economic conditions in a dilapidated shelter in the suburbs of Artashat village and earn their living by working on other people's lands. The family have even “gone days without eating,” the paper adds, citing a source close to the family.
