Yerevan Prisoner Sews Up Eyes to Protest Against Criminal Charges

An inmate at Yerevan’s Nubarashen prison has sewn up his eyes in protest at the criminal case initiated against him, Gor Ghlechyan, a spokesperson for the penitentiary department at Armenia's Justice Ministry, confirmed in conversation with Epress.am.

According to the official, the prisoner does not wish to reveal his identity and is currently under medical supervision. “The inmate has a prior conviction, and is now imprisoned in connection with an unrelated case which is still on trial,” Ghlechyan said.
